Basketball Recap: Union Colony Prep Comes Up Short

Union Colony Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 47-32 fall against the Lyons Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-35 last Tuesday.

Lyons' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leora Hagan, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 14 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Hagan continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gretta Wynja, who went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points and five boards.

Union Colony Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Lyons, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Union Colony Prep will take on Bishop Machebeuf at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lyons, they will take on SkyView Academy in a tournament on Saturday.
