Basketball Recap: Portland Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

If Gallatin wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Portland, they should've done a better job of containing Keilen Dalton. The Panthers snuck past the Green Wave with a 56-52 victory on Friday for which the team can thank Dalton, who went 7-for-11 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Tristan Calvert, who posted 11 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.9% shooting accuracy.

The win made it two in a row for Portland and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Gallatin, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portland will challenge East Robertson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Gallatin, they will square off against Wilson Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
