Baseball Game Preview: Badger Braves vs. Mathews Mustangs

Badger is 0-9-1 against Mathews since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Braves will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Friday just wasn't the day for Badger's offense. They fell just short of Maplewood by a score of 2-0 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Braves have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Tyler McWilliams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Mathews was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mineral Ridge.

This is the second loss in a row for Badger and nudges their season record down to 3-10. As for Mathews, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-10.

Badger might still be hurting after the 18-6 loss they got from Mathews when the teams last played back in April. Can the Braves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
