Recap: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Terry Sanford Bulldogs
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Harnett Central Trojans can now relate to. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 43-22 walloping at the hands of Terry Sanford on Friday. Harnett Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Terry Sanford apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October.
Aiden Taylor threw for 152 yards on 13 of 22 attempts. Quan Dixon was his top target, picking up 97 receiving yards.
Terry Sanford can attribute much of their success to Kamal Thames, who picked up 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Izaiah Williams got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Harnett Central to a paltry 193 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Terry Sanford's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out nine times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Troy Shannon and Tucker Hayes who racked up 6.5 sacks between them.
Harnett Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Terry Sanford, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Harnett Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Terry Sanford will head out on the road to face off against Southern Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Alamance is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Terry Sanford a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
