Basketball Recap: Landrum Takes a Loss

Landrum fought the good fight in their overtime match against Broome on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Broome Centurions 43-37. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Cardinals, who fell 46-43 when the teams last met back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Landrum lost, don't look at Kylie Fortner. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. Fortner's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Cain, who scored seven points and seven rebounds.

Kourtney Wofford was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten boards for Broome. Wofford has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Dakota Mitchell was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Landrum's record now sits at 11-9. As for Broome, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Landrum wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 40-35 defeat against Greenville H on the 30th. Broome has also already played their next matchup, a 52-46 loss against Woodruff on the 28th.
