Volleyball Recap: Timber Creek Takes a Loss

If Timber Creek was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Freedom on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves fell just short of the Boone Braves by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Saturday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Timber Creek sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-12.

When it comes to explaining why Timber Creek lost, don't look at Valerie Yambao. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and two aces. Yambao is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Alanis Hernandez was another key player, getting 24 digs and two aces.

Boone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucy Pastula led the charge by getting 29 digs and two aces. Those 29 digs gave Pastula a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Enz, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Timber Creek's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Boone, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Coming up, Timber Creek will head out on the road to take on DeLand at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boone, they will take on Central Pointe Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
