Baseball Recap: Ferndale Wins Going Away Against Nooksack Valley

Ferndale had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Nooksack Valley on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles blew past the Pioneers 10-1. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won seven in a row.

Nolan Boleak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ferndale is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Braylon O'Breen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Carson Brown was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Ferndale now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Nooksack Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Ferndale will challenge Mt. Baker at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Mountaineers at the right time seeing as the Mountaineers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Nooksack Valley, they will face off against Lynden Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
