Basketball Game Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. West Mecklenburg Hawks

Chambers is 10-0 against West Mecklenburg since November of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chambers Cougars will be playing at home against the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chambers has three straight wins, West Mecklenburg has 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Chambers beat Christ School 73-66. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cougars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Greenies are ranked first).

Markus Kerr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 17 en route to 24 points. The match was his 17th in a row with at least ten points. Cameron Thompson was another key player, putting up eight points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg ended up a good deal behind Harding University on Friday and lost 65-49.

Chambers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.9 points per game. As for West Mecklenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.

Everything came up roses for Chambers against West Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 102-29 win. In that contest, Chambers amassed a halftime lead of 65-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
