Preview: Grandview Wolves vs. Overland Trailblazers
The Grandview Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Overland Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Grandview has not done well against Smoky Hill recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Grandview managed a 60-54 win over Smoky Hill. The win was a breath of fresh air for Grandview as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Grandview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Riddick, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. Riddick hasn't dropped below two blocks for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Sevy, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Overland was able to grind out a solid win over Arapahoe on Wednesday, taking the game 56-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Overland.
Overland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Siraaj Ali, who scored 15 points along with five assists and four steals. Aidan Perez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Grandview's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14. As for Overland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Grandview couldn't quite finish off Overland in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 51-48. Can Grandview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
