Basketball Recap: Bristow Takes a Loss

If Bristow was riding high fresh off their 74-46 takedown of Cleveland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bristow Pirates fell to the Cushing Tigers 51-47. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Bristow saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brian Hopgood. Jr. dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Hopgood. Jr. Ty Bishop was another key player, putting up four points along with ten rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Bristow smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Bristow's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cushing, their record now sits at 8-3.

Bristow will be taking part in a tournament against Webster at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday. Bristow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. As for Cushing, they will welcome Berryhill at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th.
