Basketball Recap: Nash Central's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Nash Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets 57-41. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-37 back in January.

Nash Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Fate out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 22 boards. That's the most rebounds Fate has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was JaKayla Gay, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards.

Despite the defeat, Roanoke Rapids had strong showings from Shaniah Daniels, who scored eight points in addition to 18 rebounds and eight blocks, and Sofie Wade, who earned eight points along with six boards and four steals. Daniels has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 23 times she's played.

Nash Central's record is now 15-7. As for Roanoke Rapids, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Nash Central nor Roanoke Rapids have any future games scheduled.
