Softball Recap: Everett's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Everett dropped their record down to 9-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 9-0 to the Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Berlin Brothersvalley, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games.

For Berlin Brothersvalley's part, Elena Ritchey was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Ritchey has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Coral Prosser was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sam Walker was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Everett will welcome Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Raiders have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they will be playing at home against Chestnut Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
