Basketball Game Preview: San Marcos Rattlers vs. Del Valle Cardinals

The San Marcos Rattlers will face off against the Del Valle Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Del Valle likes a good challenge.

San Marcos is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Bowie just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Del Valle came up short against East View on Tuesday and fell 69-62. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Patriots are ranked 164th).

Del Valle has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for San Marcos, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

San Marcos couldn't quite finish off Del Valle in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 and fell 68-66. Can San Marcos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
