Basketball Game Preview: Buckhorn Wildcats vs. Leslie County Eagles

Buckhorn is 2-8 against Leslie County since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Buckhorn Wildcats will take on the Leslie County Eagles in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Buckhorn is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. The match between them and Shelby Valley didn't end well, with Buckhorn falling 77-59. While losing is never fun, Buckhorn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Shelby Valley is ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Leslie County came up short against Betsy Layne on Monday, falling 77-51. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Buckhorn will have to contain Tripp Brashear as he made an impact in Leslie County's last game. He dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cutter Browning, who posted two points and five rebounds.

Leslie County's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2. As for Buckhorn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Buckhorn strolled past Leslie County in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 58-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buckhorn since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
