Basketball Game Preview: Mexia Black Cats vs. Teague Lions

The Mexia Black Cats will head out to take on the Teague Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Mexia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 70-37 win over Elkhart. Given the Black Cats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Elks are ranked 933rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Teague had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 50-24 margin over the Goats.

Mexia's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.2 points. As for Teague, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Mexia strolled past Teague in their previous meeting on January 7th by a score of 46-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mexia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
