Baseball Recap: Coral Reef Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Coral Reef's offense. They fell just short of the Palmetto Panthers by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Barracudas have suffered against the Panthers since March 14, 2019.

Adrian Nunez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Coral Reef's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Palmetto, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-7 record.

Coming up, Coral Reef will be playing at home against Schoolhouse Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Schoolhouse Prep has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.8 runs per game on average), something Coral Reef will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Palmetto, they will head out to challenge Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on March 11th.
