Basketball Recap: Artesia Pioneers vs. Pioneer Titans
Even though the Pioneer Titans scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Artesia Pioneers still came out on top. Artesia took their contest against the Titans 67-58. The win made it back-to-back wins for Artesia.
Zion Staples continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Martinez, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Artesia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Pioneer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-12.
Artesia will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oxford Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1056th, while the Pioneers are ranked 428th). As for Pioneer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
