Basketball Recap: Liberty Magnet Makes It 20 in a Row at Home

Liberty Magnet had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 52-40 win over the Catholic Bears. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Leading Liberty Magnet to victory were Kingston Jarrell and Malek Robinson. Jarrell dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Robinson posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 26 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Nairn, who scored six points.

Liberty Magnet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Liberty Magnet pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points over those games. As for Catholic, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 27-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty Magnet will welcome Zachary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Magnet is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season. As for Catholic, they will face off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
