Baseball Recap: Stone Memorial's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Stone Memorial dropped their record down to 8-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the White County Warriors by a score of 4-3. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Tuesday.

As for White County, their victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-15. The game was the first time they have beaten Stone Memorial on their field since March 26, 2019.

For White County's part, Wyatt Dilts looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Dilts has become a key player for the Warriors: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cole Gentry, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of White County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-14 when he doesn't). Austin Pionke was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles.

While Stone Memorial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
