Basketball Recap: New Milford Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

New Milford lost to Lodi back in January of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The New Milford Knights were the clear victor by a 69-46 margin over the Lodi Rams. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Leading New Milford to victory were Luis Placido and Dariel Liranzo. Placido went 11-for-19 on his way to 25 points along with seven steals and five assists, while Liranzo went 10-for-19 en route to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The match was Placido's 12th in a row with at least 19 points. Brady Hibinski also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

New Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive contests.

New Milford has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points over those games. Lodi now has a losing record of 11-12.

New Milford and Lodi are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. New Milford will face off against Emerson on February 26th. New Milford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Emerson likes a good challenge. As for Lodi, they will take on Pascack Hills on February 27th.
