Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Carmel Christian

Carmel Christian extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Bryce Slay. The Carmel Christian Cougars walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Weddington Warriors on Saturday thanks in part to Slay, who went 8 for 16 en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in February of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Chandler Kennedy, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Weddington lost, don't look at KJ Younger. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. Mason Zepp was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Carmel Christian's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Weddington, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carmel Christian will challenge Porter Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carmel Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season. As for Weddington, they will head out to take on Cuthbertson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Weddington also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 61.6 points per game.
