Basketball Game Preview: Meridian HomeSchool FLYERS vs. Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners

Meridian HomeSchool hasn't had much luck against Hattiesburg HomeSchool recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Meridian HomeSchool FLYERS will host the Hattiesburg HomeSchool Forerunners at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Meridian HomeSchool is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were dealt a 103-61 loss at the hands of Muddy River HomeSchool. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in November of 2024 (59), the FLYERS still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hattiesburg HomeSchool). They rang in the new year with a 72-61 win over Varsity Opponent on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Forerunners as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool found their leader in sophomore Keller Russell, who went 15 for 23 on his way to 30 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Cotton, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meridian HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hattiesburg HomeSchool, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.

Meridian HomeSchool didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Hattiesburg HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory.
