1. Jefferson Davis (Montgomery)

2014-15 record: 26-3

Class 7A first team all-state selections Ahyiona Vason (5-5, Sr., G) and Jasmine Walker (6-3, Sr., F/C) return for the defending champions. Walker is regarded as a Top 25 prospect in the 2016 class and is being pursued by the likes of Louisville and South Carolina.

Watch out for the Patriots. Nine freshmen saw action a year ago and yet Homewood won 31 games and the Class 6A title. Hannah Barber (5-6, So., G), Ajah Wayne (5-10, So., G/F) and Tori Webb (6-0, So., F) will lead the way.

3. Wenonah (Birmingham)
Head coach: Emanuel Bell
2014-15 record: 32-3

The two-time defending 5A state champs bring back a wealth of young talent. Alexus Dye (6-1, Jr., F), Jayla Morrow (5-6, Jr., G) and Faith Reynolds (5-8, So., G) all averaged between 14 and 10 points per game a year ago. Throw in Class 5A first team all-state pick Kaitlyn Rodgers (6-2, Sr., F/C) – Wenonah's fourth-leading scorer in 2014-15 – and the Dragons have the look of a champion.

4. Lauderdale County (Rogersville)
Head coach: Brant Llewellyn
2014-15 record: 39-0

Though Lauderdale County is a 3A school, it has a big-time track record of girls basketball success. The Tigers have won 12 state titles – including four in a row and seven under direction of Llewellyn since 2002. This squad will enter the season riding an 84-game win streak and looks primed to keep it rolling with all-staters Emma Wallen (5-7, Sr., G), Ivy Wallen (5-7, Sr., G) and Allie Craig Cruce (5-11, So., F) back in the lineup.

5. Hoover
Head coach: Tiffany Frederick
2014-15 record: 22-9

The Buccaneers won three state titles from 2010-13 and would love to get back to the top of the mountain this season. Seniors Kendra Langham (5-10, F) and Jailyn Maddox (5-10, G) have the talent to make that dream a reality.
