Softball Recap: Delcambre Drops Highest Score of Season Against Midland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delcambre). They blew past the Midland Rebels 19-1 on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Allie Mayard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Shelby Scott was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Trystin Touchet, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Delcambre pushed their record up to 17-12 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Midland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-17.

Delcambre will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rebels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
