Baseball Recap: Laurel Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Laurel nor Fort Cherry made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Spartans beat the Rangers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Thursday.

JJ McBride was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was RJ Kissick, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Laurel, bringing their record up to 10-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Fort Cherry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Laurel will square off against Shenango at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Fort Cherry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
