Baseball Recap: Lafayette County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lafayette County had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Blevins Hornets 13-3 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Trey Knighton was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, TJ Johnson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Isaiah Clark, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4.

Lafayette County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Blevins, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Lafayette County and Blevins will both be playing Columbia Christian the next time they take the field. Blevins will head out to face Columbia Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Lafayette County will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
