Softball Recap: St. Vincent-St. Mary's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

St. Vincent-St. Mary dropped their record down to 5-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Logan Wildcats by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Fighting Irish couldn't push the score so high this time.

Cameron Eckroad spent all 9.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Kim made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two stolen bases. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

As for Logan, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Logan's side, they also let their pitcher toss all ten innings and she was also dialed-in: Myleigh Adkins gave up only one earned run on two hits and racked up 20 Ks.

At the plate, Lacy Curry was excellent, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matches. Lauren Adkins was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, St. Vincent-St. Mary will take on Rock Hill at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Redmen have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Logan, they will square off against Cabell Midland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
