Baseball Game Preview: University Prep Pumas vs. Chimacum Cowboys

For the first time this season, University Prep will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to face off against the Chimacum Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Thursday, University Prep came up short against Overlake and fell 5-2.

Hawthorne Moody spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, University Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Keppler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those hits marked the first that Keppler got this season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Chimacum's offense. They lost 15-0 to Bremerton on Saturday. The Cowboys just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Chimacum's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for University Prep, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.
