Baseball Game Preview: River Valley Dust Devils vs. Winslow Bulldogs

The River Valley Dust Devils will head out to square off against the Winslow Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. River Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Kingman hit River Valley with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dust Devils took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Dust Devils' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Hunter Koehler put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and three stolen bases.

Koehler wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Carroll, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Winslow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Blue Ridge, falling 11-1.

Winslow's loss dropped their record down to 3-17-1. As for River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5-2.

Winslow's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: River Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474.
