Softball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Lewiston Bengals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-17 on Saturday.

Katie Nave was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Lewiston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games.

On Lewiston's side, Jenna Barney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Ready, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taren Nuxoll, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Lakeland will take on Post Falls at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Lewiston, they will venture away from home to face off against Moscow at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.38 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
