Softball Recap: Hoover Huskies vs. Sissonville Indians
Hoover stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Sissonville Indians as the Hoover Huskies made off with a 13-3 win. The victory was nothing new for Hoover as they're now sitting on four straight.
Laila Varney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Varney has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Varney was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Audrey Canterbury was incredible, scoring four runs while going 2-for-4. Jayley Elmore was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
On Sissonville's side, Ana Soblit made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
Hoover's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for Sissonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
