Baseball Game Preview: Middletown North Lions vs. Ranney

The Middletown North Lions will head out on the road to face off against Ranney at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Ranney took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Middletown North, who comes in off a win.

Middletown North's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Glen Ridge as they made off with a 9-0 win.

Meanwhile, Ranney came up short against Christian Brothers Academy on Wednesday and fell 6-3. That's two games in a row now that Ranney has lost by exactly three runs.

Zach Messina was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Robbie Wrobel and Ricky Lopez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wrobel went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI, while Lopez went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Cox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
