Recap: Brandeis Broncos vs. Steele Knights

The Brandeis Broncos and the Steele Knights squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Brandeis Broncos had to settle for second. Brandeis was beaten by Steele 42-14. While losing is never fun, Brandeis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Steele is ranked 29th).

Matthew McClenan threw for 135 yards and a touchdown. Landon Miller was his top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Steele's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Hatton jr. led the charge by rushing for 65 yards and three touchdowns. Hatton jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Dontae Carter got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Brandeis now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Steele, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Brandeis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Steele will square off against McNeil at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. McNeil is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
