If River Valley was feeling good fresh off their 59-21 takedown of Wellston on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The River Valley Raiders received a blow on Thursday as they fell 57-38 to the Athens Bulldogs. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Leading Athens to victory were Alexis Koopal and Quinn Banks. Koopal dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Banks posted 16 points. Koopal is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games she's played. Asa Holcombe was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

River Valley's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for Athens, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

River Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 45-26 victory against Dawson-Bryant on the 18th. Athens has also already played their next game, a 54-30 win against Notre Dame on the 18th.
