For the first time this season, Burgettstown will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They will take on the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Burgettstown's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by an 18-0 margin over Carlynton. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Matthew Bredel was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brian Charles and Wyatt Stevenson did most of the damage at the plate: Charles scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Stevenson scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Charles a new career-high in runs. Trent Stevens was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.
Burgettstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlynton only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, Chartiers-Houston beat Fort LeBoeuf 8-3 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.
Chartiers-Houston also got a great performance from Brady Robaugh as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justus Buckingham, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brady Gotfredson, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Burgettstown took their win against Chartiers-Houston in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-10. Does Burgettstown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chartiers-Houston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
