Baseball Recap: Gunnison Valley Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

In Friday's Canine Competition, Gunnison Valley prevailed. Everything went their way against the North Sevier Wolves on Friday as they made off with a 7-1 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Braxton Pickett was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on TaLund Zufelt, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Daxton Knudsen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Gunnison Valley's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for North Sevier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Gunnison Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Parowan on the 3rd. As for North Sevier, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 25-5 loss against South Sevier on the 3rd.
