Basketball Game Preview: Saint Francis Lancers vs. Archbishop Mitty Monarchs

Saint Francis hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Mitty recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Saint Francis Lancers will challenge the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. Saint Francis will be strutting in after a win while Archbishop Mitty will be coming in after a defeat.

Saint Francis played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They secured a 44-40 W over Junipero Serra. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lancers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Padres are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty suffered their closest loss since March 2, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory by a score of 62-59. The Monarchs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Saint Francis' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Archbishop Mitty, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Saint Francis took a serious blow against Archbishop Mitty when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 66-27. Can Saint Francis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
