Monte Vista is 2-8 against College Park since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Falcons at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Monte Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Dougherty Valley 9-3 on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Gavin McMillan looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Capra, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Storz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Monte Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while College Park put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Alhambra. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since April 10th.
The result came thanks to James Voorhies's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because College Park is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.
At the plate, College Park's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Vincent 'Tino' Vasell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Jack Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Monte Vista's victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for College Park, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
