Softball Game Preview: Dunnellon Tigers vs. Seven Rivers Christian Warriors

The Dunnellon Tigers will challenge the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seven Rivers Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Dunnellon, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Dunnellon needed a bit of extra time to put away Lake Weir. They had just enough and edged out the Hurricanes 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since February 25th.

Makayla Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Bernstein, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Avianna Rivera was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Dunnellon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Weir only posted a batting average of .250.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Seven Rivers Christian's offense. They came up short against Seffner Christian on Tuesday, falling 15-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Seven Rivers Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Dunnellon, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
