5A Region IV District 32 recap September 10, 2013

Harlingen was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in 5A Region IV District 32. The Cardinals vanquished San Benito 54-0 earlier in the week.

Lopez moved up to 610 from 865 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lobos climbed the ranks as a result of beating Valley View 52-6.

Nick Alegria was the best wideout in the league this week as Los Fresnos fell to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo. Alegria tallied 2 receptions for 95 yards. Fabian Robledo helped Los Fresnos' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 76 yards.

Brandon Garza threw for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns.

William Cox was the best running back in 5A Region IV District 32 this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 104 yards as the Falcons lost to the Bears. Teammate Jaime Arriola added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.

Garza put up the best numbers through the air as Harlingen beat the Greyhounds. Garza's favorite target this week was STEPHEN GASCA, who caught 2 passes for 86 yards.

5-foot-7 quarterback Mike Vasquez of Lopez is the league leader in passing yards this season with 371. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Alegria. The Los Fresnos star has 2 catches for 95 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Los Fresnos takes on Hanna. As it stands, Mando Gonzalez's team is in fourth, while the Eagles are in sixth.

Porter fell to La Joya 64-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
