Football Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Five

Santa Fe Catholic hadn't done well against Out-of-Door Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hawks came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 27-20. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row dating back to last season.

Santa Fe Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reagan Korlacki led the charge by rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 34 receiving yards. Zyrell Thomas was another key pass catcher, gaining 94 total yards and a touchdown.

Santa Fe Catholic's run defense was locked in: Out-of-Door Academy could only muster 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Bertran Bates for the heroic effort on defense: he. Santa Fe Catholic didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Santa Fe Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bryce White and Thomas. Santa Fe Catholic got some further help from Bates: he picked up 0.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles (3.5 for loss).

Despite the loss, Out-of-Door Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brady Cleveland picked up 115 receiving yards and one TD. Cleveland also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making one tackle and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Santa Fe Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Out-of-Door Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
