Volleyball Recap: Altoona Takes a Loss

Altoona managed to slip by Osceola the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Railroaders lost 3-0 to the Chieftains on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Altoona was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20, 25-23.

When it comes to explaining why Altoona lost, don't look at Brayln Siverling. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and three assists. Siverling has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last three times she's played. Sophia Duquaine also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Beth Viebrock, who had 24 digs and one assist. Those 24 digs gave her a new career-high.

Altoona's defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 12-17. As for Osceola, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-15.

Altoona didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau on the 11th. As for Osceola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Stanley-Boyd on the 11th.
