Softball Recap: Hancock Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Hancock not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th. They never let the Long Beach Bearcats get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Teegan DeWitt made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubre Martin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Paige Kreher was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Hancock pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Long Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Hancock will have a chance to go back-to-back against Long Beach: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
