Baseball Recap: White Station Gets the Win

White Station barely beat St. Benedict at Auburndale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The White Station Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles a 12-0 shutout on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Townsend Buring was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Buring was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayes Bennett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Demarcus Covington was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

White Station now has a winning record of 2-1. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, White Station will face off against Lakeland Preparatory at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, they will square off against Memphis Home Education Association at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
