Basketball Game Preview: Cleveland Indians vs. New Caney Eagles

The Cleveland Indians will head out on the road to take on the New Caney Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Cleveland is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against College Park on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cleveland took a blow against College Park, falling 80-31. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.

Meanwhile, New Caney ended up a good deal behind The Woodlands on Saturday and lost 65-49. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 974th, while the Highlanders are ranked 422nd).

New Caney's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Cleveland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-16 record this season.

Cleveland was dealt a bruising 53-22 loss at the hands of New Caney in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cleveland was down 30-9.
