Softball Recap: Cape Fear Extends Road Winning Streak to 11

Cape Fear had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt St. Pauls on Wednesday. The Cape Fear Colts put the hurt on the St. Pauls Bulldogs with a sharp 8-0 win. Considering the Colts have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Karalina Tomasic, who gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep St. Pauls off the board. Those 11 strikeouts gave Tomasic a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Addy Davis was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Amari Adams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Davis wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cape Fear kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Cape Fear's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for St. Pauls, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

The future could be bright for both Cape Fear and St. Pauls: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Cape Fear will try to hand Douglas Byrd their third-straight loss when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, St. Pauls will look to extend Whiteville's four-game losing streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
