Basketball Recap: Valley View Takes a Loss

Valley View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Paradise Panthers, falling 71-30. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1194th, while the Panthers are ranked 222nd).

Despite the loss, Valley View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aaron Epperson posted three points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Valley View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Paradise, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Callisburg the next time they take the court. Valley View will host Callisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Paradise will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
