Baseball Recap: West Ashley Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

West Ashley posted their closest victory since April 1st on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the John Champe Knights 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Wells Hostetler tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kevin Elias, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Prioleau, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

West Ashley pushed their record up to 7-13 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for John Champe, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Coming up, West Ashley will head out to challenge Summerville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Green Wave's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for John Champe, they will host Rock Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
