Baseball Recap: Shepaug Valley Spartans vs. Derby Red Raiders
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Shepaug Valley had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Derby Red Raiders a 5-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Sonny Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Shepaug Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.
