Softball Recap: Conant Cougars vs. Palatine Pirates

Suggested Video

Conant came out on top against Palatine on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Cougars took their match against the Pirates 5-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Dani Gemmell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlotte Wolf, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophia Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
